The Superhero of Medicine Award is presented annually to a Wisconsin physician who lives out the mission of the Foundation to an exemplary degree, going above and beyond to improve the health of their patients and/or community, and is involved in a program of the Foundation or a project supported by the Foundation through a grant or other partnership.

Rolf Lulloff, MD, is a proud Badger, born and raised in Dodgeville, Wisconsin. He trained at the UW School of Medicine and Public Health, specialized in orthopedic surgery, and formally retired in 2017 from Prevea Health. Dr. Lulloff has played an active role in numerous local organizations including Howe Community Resource Center and the Greater Green Bay YMCA. He served on the Board of Directors of HSHS St. Mary’s Hospital from 1978-1986 and the Board of Directors for HSHS St. Vincent/St. Mary’s Hospitals from 2006-2012 and was Chief of Medical Staff from 2006-2009. Dr. Lulloff also maintained several memberships throughout his career including being active with the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, American Academy of Neurology, American Medical Association, the Wisconsin Medical Society, and the Brown County Medical Society.

It was during his training at UW that Dr. Lulloff met Ann, his beloved late wife. Dr. Lulloff and Ann have three children and eight grandchildren. He reflects being “blessed by a lifetime of friends, family, and professional association.” Losing her sense of smell at the age of 36, Ann was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease at age 49 and Dr. Lulloff served as primary caregiver in her multi-decade battle with Parkinson’s. “Ann inspired me to focus on this problem, she was strong-minded and adamant the disease wouldn’t define her,” says Dr. Lulloff. In those years, Dr. Lulloff worked with physicians of various specialties, learned about coping with neurodegenerative disease, and realized the importance of overall health.

With the help of four other health care professionals, the Brain Center of Green Bay was formally established in 2017 to address a critical need in the area: to provide education on brain health and make brains better at every age and stage of life. The Brain Center of Green Bay provides free support and resources to individuals and family members with neurodegenerative diseases. One Brain Center of Green Bay program teaches personalized brain health education through one-on-one coaching sessions led by volunteer physicians and health professionals. Dr. Lulloff is known for his selfless dedication, deep care and attention for clients, and service to the community by promoting high-quality brain health education.

In response to receiving this award, Dr. Lulloff expresses “I am thrilled for the honor of receiving this award. The Wisconsin Medical Society Foundation represents a wonderful organization that has great impact on the state’s health care profession. I have been blessed to be a Wisconsin kid… I hope our experiences and this wonderful honor can be put to even more use for so many of us. Thank you for making this possible."

The Superhero of Medicine Award comes with a $1,000 donation to the health-related non-profit organization in Wisconsin of the awardee’s choosing. Dr. Lulloff designated the Brain Center of Green Bay as the recipient of this donation. Chris Vanden Hoogen, Brain Center of Green Bay Executive Director said, "Dr. Rolf Lulloff’s superpower is the ability to be authentic, humble, and personal with each person that crosses his path. He enriches people’s lives and makes them feel special… I often tell people that Dr. Lulloff would be at the Brain Center 24 hours a day, 7 days a week if we would let him. His heart, caring, and purpose are unmatched. The connection he is able to make with clients and families is powerful and his sessions always end in success - hugs, healing, and motivation."

Dr. Padmini D. Ranasinghe is the Immediate Past President of MedChi, the Maryland State Medical Society, and current Chair of the American Medical Association Council on Science and Public Health. Trained in internal medicine, preventive medicine, epidemiology, and clinical informatics at Johns Hopkins, with an MPH from Yale, she brings more than two decades of involvement in organized medicine and public health.  A clinician in hospital medicine, educator, and researcher at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, Dr. Ranasinghe teaches and mentors medical students, residents, and public health trainees. Her research focuses on the intersection of public health, physician well-being, value-based care, disaster medicine, gender disparities in healthcare, and artificial intelligence in medicine. She also contributes to the American Medical Association’s national task forces on digital health, AI, and clinical informatics. She is a past chair of AMA's International Medical Graduate Section.  

Paula serves as the State Health Officer and Administrator of the Division of Public Health at the Wisconsin Department of Health Services. In this role she leads the vision for statewide public health and health equity strategies. The Division of Public Health includes the following eight Bureaus and Offices: Aging and Disability Resources, Communicable Diseases, Community Health Promotion, Environmental and Occupational Health, Health Informatics, Operations, Policy and Practice Alignment, Preparedness and Emergency Health Care. Paula is proud to be from Wisconsin and to have completed her education and training in her home state. Her public health experience has focused on exploring and strategizing ways to embed health equity and empowerment concepts into public health practice, policies, and scholarship.

Through her tenure at a diverse range of non-profit, academic, and government organizations, she has led and developed community-engaged research projects, statewide health equity efforts and cross-sector alliances, and provided training and technical assistance to affect the social, economic, and environmental determinants of health to advance health equity. In 2023, Paula was named to the DeBeaumont Foundation’s National “40 Under 40 in Public Health” list.

Paula has her Master of Public Health degree and Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Dr. Weston is an Associate Professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine at the Medical College of Wisconsin. He serves as Chief Health Policy Advisor for Milwaukee County working to enhance the health of one million citizens. In addition, Dr. Weston is the Chief Medical Director for the Milwaukee County Offi ce of Emergency Management, directing medical services for the 15 fi re departments throughout the county with over 150,000 annual patient encounters. He was recently among seven individuals selected as a fellow of the National Academy of Medicine. He practices clinically in the emergency department at Froedtert Hospital, a Level 1 Trauma Center.

Dr. Weston’s local, regional and national leadership has centered on community and partner engagement to advance population health and organizational sustainability. Through strategic planning, eff ective communication, crisis management, and the fostering of public-private partnerships, Dr. Weston has spearheaded initiatives addressing health care access, substance use disorder, motor vehicle collisions, fi rearm injuries, and disease prevention. He has been featured on MSNBC, CNN, BBC, Good Morning America, NBC Nightly News, and in Politico and The New York Times. He has provided medical oversight for events including NFL, NBA, MLB, Indycar, and USA Triathlon. He has been selected as Milwaukee Business Journal’s 40 under 40, named the Public Health Leader of the Year, and listed as “Best of Milwaukee” in Milwaukee Magazine.

Dr. Weston received his baccalaureate degree at Lawrence University, his medical degree and master of public health from the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health, and completed his emergency medicine residency at Hennepin County Medical Center. A faculty physician at the Medical College of Wisconsin for over 10 years, Dr. Weston is dual board-certifi ed in Emergency Medicine as well as Emergency Medical Services by the American Board of Emergency Medicine after completing his Emergency Medical Services Fellowship at the Medical College of Wisconsin. Dr. Weston is an NIH funded researcher with interests including prehospital care, resuscitation, disease surveillance, and public health promotion.

Dr. White is a semi-retired clinical dermatologist who started his career in the Navy, then Airforce. In the Air Force, he was Medical Director for TRICARE, Region IV, was on the faculty at Wright State University School of Medicine, and commanded the 8th Medical Group in Pusan, Korea. In the Navy, Dr. White served as the solo ship's doctor, deployed aboard USS Trenton to the Mediterranean, as part of the US 6th Fleet. He was dermatology residency program director at Wright State University for six years and Chairman of Dermatology.

Dr. White transferred to Mayo Clinic in La Crosse and served as Chairman, Dermatology Department Community Practice Division for 10 years. He retired from Mayo at the end of 2020, managed the Covid Vaccination Clinics for La Crosse County in 2021, and has worked as a consultant at Neighborhood Family Clinics in Onalaska since July 2021.

Currently, Dr. White works in a small clinic, providing accessible and affordable dermatological care for people of all ages and walks of life, who suffer from skin diseases.

Dr. White served on the Wisconsin Medical Society Board of Directors for several years and is the Immediate Past President of La Crosse County Medical Society.

Stephen Brandt, MD is an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and Addiction Psychiatrist with the Medical College of Wisconsin, joining the faculty in August 2023. He completed both his general psychiatry residency and his addiction psychiatry fellowship at Indiana University in Indianapolis, IN. The majority of his clinical time is outpatient addiction psychiatry care at Tosa Psychiatry Center, as well as roles with the Froedtert Menomonee Falls Hospital Substance Use IOP Program and Froedtert Hospital Psychiatry Consult Liaison team. He really enjoys his work, including the opportunity to work with the excellent, compassionate, and impressive psychiatry residents and fellows at the Medical College of Wisconsin. Away from work, he enjoys family time especially with his hilarious children, playing soccer, dabbling in songwriting, and making and playing strategy board games.

Jesse M. Ehrenfeld, MD, MPH, is Aidoc’s Global Chief Medical Officer. He’s the former president of the American Medical Association, a practicing physician, and holds academic appointments as a Professor at the Medical College of Wisconsin, Vanderbilt University, and the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences. A nationally recognized physician-leader and researcher, his work focuses on how health information technology can improve safety, reliability, and patient outcomes, having received funding from the NIH, ARPA-H, the Department of Defense and other major organizations. Dr. Ehrenfeld has authored more than 275 peer-reviewed publications, served as editor-in-chief of the Journal of Medical Systems and held advisory roles with the World Health Organization, the U.S. Surgeon General and the National Academy of Medicine.

The Wisconsin Medical Society Foundation (Foundation) is proud to announce Jade Anderson, MD, as the 2026 Kenneth M. Viste, Jr., MD Young Physician Leadership Award recipient. The prestigious Kenneth M. Viste, Jr., MD Young Physician Leadership Award was established in 2006 in memory of Dr. Viste, a compassionate and passionate physician leader who exemplified commitment to patients, community, and the profession of medicine. Nominations for this award come from physician peers and the recipient demonstrates activities and values that promote Dr. Viste’s exceptional legacy.

Dr. Anderson is an Assistant Professor of Radiology at University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. She is recognized for her commitment to service by mentorship, excellent patient care, and leadership in professional organizations including the Wisconsin Radiological Society, American Medical Association, and the Wisconsin Medical Society. Dr. Anderson demonstrates passion for nurturing future leaders in the Student National Medical Association (SNMA), Break the Glass, and RadDiscord initiatives. She has several scholarly contributions including presentations and peer reviewed journal articles in the field of radiology. Dr. Anderson received multiple nominations that highlight her active engagement in advocacy and leadership at the local, state, and national level.

This legacy mirrors the values embodied by Dr. Viste—service, compassion, and leadership at every level,” Wisconsin Medical Society (WisMed) President, Michelle Graham, MD, wrote.

Dane County Medical Society President, Sophie Kramer, MD, said, “Dr. Anderson has sought innovative opportunities to advance the profession.”

“Her approachable nature, enthusiasm for education, and commitment to student growth have deeply influenced our development as future physicians and leaders in medicine,” noted one of her student mentees.

In addition to presenting an engraved award to Dr. Anderson, the Foundation will contribute a donation in her honor to Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin, Inc, empowering all individuals to manage their sexual and reproductive health through patient services, education, and advocacy.
