We Need to Hear From You! Take the Foundation County Survey

At the Wisconsin Medical Society Foundation (Foundation), our one goal is a healthy Wisconsin. We believe this starts by creating a platform for Wisconsin physicians who are at the forefront of their communities. You know the real issues impacting your patients’ health and livelihood. You know the local programs that are serving the gaps that can’t be addressed in the clinic. You see the challenges faced by your fellow physicians and care support teams. We are here to listen. We rely on input from physicians across the state to inform our decisions regarding where and how to invest resources to achieve our goal. Please take a few minutes to complete the annual Foundation County Survey.

Working with the Wisconsin Medical Society (Society), we are responding to those concerns that are most critical to you and your patients, and we need to hear from you to do that. This survey is an opportunity to share your concerns regarding community and patient health, workforce issues, and your thoughts on organized medicine.

Wisconsin Medical Society Foundation

We hope you’ll complete the survey and encourage your colleagues to participate. We need to hear from physicians in every stage of their career, every part of the state, and every area of practice. Your survey responses have a direct impact on which community organizations are invited to apply for Foundation Grants and where Foundation and Society resources can be used to support our physician workforce.

If you prefer to do your survey by phone or in-person, or if you have questions, please contact Yoshie Wingate at [email protected].

WisMed Financial helps physicians turn concerns about debt, investing & retirement into financial wellbeing.

WisMed Assure Gives Back to Community

On Tuesday, May 19, 2026, the team at WisMed Assure – a Tropolis Company – joined colleagues throughout Tropolis in all locations in a Service Day, giving back to their local communities. The WisMed Assure staff spent their afternoon at Second Harvest Food Bank of Southern Wisconsin.

The staff worked with Second Harvest employees on a couple different tasks: one group sifted through pallets of apples and sorted them into 5-pound sacks; and the other group sorted pallets of donated frozen foods and selected quality products to be placed in boxes for distribution. The team working with the apples packaged well over 1,000 pounds of fresh produce, and the team in the frozen foods department repackaged literal tons of sweet treats, veggies, meals, pizzas, and other frozen foods. For the WisMed Assure staff, the event was a valuable experience – not only did it bring the entire agency together for the afternoon, they were also able to support a good cause!

Second Harvest Food Bank of Southern Wisconsin began in 1986, supporting our neighbors in southern Wisconsin struggling with food insecurity. The Food Bank operates on the belief that everyone in our community should have equal access to nutritious, affordable, and culturally meaningful food. Their mission is to end hunger in southwestern Wisconsin. The organization has a variety of ways to get involved, from donating money or food directly, to volunteering at the warehouse, to a number of special events throughout the year – the process to help is easier than you might think!

Dr. McAvoy Presents to Pewaukee High School Students

Today, Thursday, May 21, Waukesha County Medical Society President Kieran McAvoy, MD, spoke to Pewaukee high school students about what it’s like being a physician, what her schooling was like, her reasons for becoming a physician, and more. She gave a great overview of being a physician and also highlighted her experience as a geriatric physician.

Dr. McAvoy then led the students through an aging simulator. They wore ear plugs for hearing loss, tapped pool noodles to their legs to replicate arthritis, wore goggles with goop on them to show the loss of vision, and chickpeas in their shoes to give a sense of imbalance. Then they walked with a walker – it was great!
